How to verify your site in Google Search Console using Google Analytics or Tag Manager

Introduction

This guide explains how to verify your site in Google Search Console (previously called Google Webmaster Tools) using Google Tag Manager or Google Analytics. This will allow you to see the Google Search analysis for your site and identify any SEO problems.

Requirements

  1. A Google User Account.
  2. Google Tag Manager or Analytics set up on your site using the same Google User Account you’re using to verify the site. If you don’t already have Google Tag Manager set up, and your site uses WordPress, see How to add Google Tag Manager to WordPress using a plugin.

These instructions assume it’s the first time you’ve added a site to Google Search Console. If you already have one, log into Search Console, select the site drop down at the top left and click Add property.
